This is a very cool and fairly rare Washburn model that’s becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially in this configuration with the Telecaster-shaped headstock. The striped neck on this model is extremely unique and gives the guitar a vibe all its own.

The finish appears to be a metallic burgundy/purple color that was difficult to accurately capture in the photos. In person it shifts a bit depending on lighting and has a great vintage ‘80s look.

The guitar appears to be completely original with the exception of the strap buttons. Overall condition is very respectable showing relatively low actual playwear for its age. Fretwear is almost non-existent. Cosmetic flaws are consistent with a well-kept vintage guitar and may include minor dings, dents, scratches, marks and scuffs, mostly on the body from age and handling over the decades. The neck itself is in beautiful condition.

The electronics consist of a push/pull volume control for humbucker coil splitting, master tone control, and three individual mini-toggle switches used to activate each pickup independently. Everything works exactly as it should and the guitar sounds fantastic with a wide variety of tones available.

The neck is straight, the truss rod operates properly, and the guitar plays beautifully over the entire fingerboard with great action.

If you’ve been searching for an unusual and harder-to-find Japanese-era Washburn with unmistakable 1980s styling and features, this one is definitely worth a serious look.
