Carved from a single, hollowed-out piece of 200-year-old Japanese Zelkova wood, this amazing drum is a beautiful piece of art besides its exceptional sound and build quality. I am the original owner. It is in like-new collectors grade condition and except for one recording session hasn’t left my home studio.
While it has a unique sound, this is a versatile drum that sounds great and stable in any tuning. It’s warm and punchy but very sensitive, resonant yet dry in a way that doesn’t sound choked. I found it rarely needed any muffling, as its overtones are integrated within the initial sound and don’t hang over as a separate voice. They are just right. You might say that a Zelkova sounds like a Brady that has gone to charm school! (I’m also selling a Brady)
The drum features 8 brass lugs, die-cast hoops, and specialized snare wires designed for maximum resonance. There is an extra lug assembly provided by Canopus.
