Personal Thoughts:
This is exactly the sort of Murphy Lab Les Paul that tends to stop people in their tracks. The ‘59 Reissue is already Gibson Custom Shop’s flagship burst formula, but the Ultra Heavy Aged treatment gives it a much more dramatic, broken-in look and feel that really suits a Lemon Burst. On a guitar like this, the ageing is a big part of the appeal, because it pushes it away from being just another clean reissue and much closer to that worn, road-tested vintage look people actually chase. The underlying spec is every bit as strong as you would expect too, with the lightweight one-piece mahogany body, figured maple top, rosewood board and unpotted Custombuckers all keeping it firmly in that classic late-’50s Les Paul lane. A very desirable Custom Shop build and one of the more exciting Murphy Lab finishes to find on an R9 platform.

Condition Report:
Excellent condition. Murphy Lab Ultra Heavy Aged finish is factory correct as part of the original Custom Shop spec. Aside from the intentional ageing, it presents very cleanly overall with only light signs of genuine handling and use.
