Up for sale is a vintage 1979 Alvarez CY140 classical guitar made in Japan during the highly regarded Kazuo Yairi / St. Louis Music era. These late-70s Japanese-built Alvarez classical guitars have earned a strong reputation for their craftsmanship, rich tone, and excellent playability.
The CY140 sits above many entry-level models from the period and delivers a warm, balanced nylon-string voice with excellent projection and vintage character. The aged cedar top has developed a beautiful amber patina over the decades, complemented by an elegant floral rosette and traditional classical styling.
This guitar is in very good vintage condition with normal cosmetic wear from age and use, including finish wear and surface marks on the top as shown in the photos. No obvious major cracks or structural issues were noted. The bridge appears solid and the guitar has a comfortable broken-in feel with the mature tone only older wood can produce.
