This instrument was made for me by an excellent, Luthier Craig Stapley, in Rochester NY. It is a truly beautiful instrument that still plays well though has developed some physical imperfections over the years. The reason for selling is an advancing Rheumatoid arthritis making it difficult for me to play. This guitar has gone to college, played out and has been a bedroom Guitar throughout its 45 years.
Not so good
- There is checking across the top.
- The guitar's neck has a dog leg right curve and will most likely need a reset.
- Small ding on the top.
- Professionally Cleated 1.5 inch crack on the surface of the top.
The Good.
Mild fret wear, solid cherry neck, scalloped 300 yr internal bracing, a very tight grain Spruce top and some of the prettiest Rosewood I’ve ever seen. This guitar has perfect intonation and holds tuning for months. Still very playable and rings like a bell with deep bass and beautiful overtones but really need to go to someone else who will fix it up or perhaps play it as it is. Will ship with original 50 yr. old case that will increase chipping costs or as it is, naked as the day it was born at 5.5 lb.
