This vintage Kay Kraft archtop is a true piece of American musical history, born in the 1930s when craftsmanship was as much about art as it was about sound . This one is in original condition and shows that it has been played for many years. We did a minor setup on it and put on a new set of strings and the guitar plays decently and looks good. This is playable but we are selling it mostly as a colectors piece to be displayed and enjoyed.
Kay Kraft branded guitars were produced in Chicago, Il by what eventually became the Kay Musical Instrument Company (previously Stromberg-Voisinet) and made between approximately the late 1920s and 1934.
Since we can’t find a lot of background info on this piece we are going to let the photos speak for themselves.
Whether you are a collector of rare Americana or a player seeking that authentic, lo-fi acoustic growl, this Kay Kraft offers a soulfulness that modern reissues simply cannot replicate
We got it without a case but it will be sent to you in a padded gig bag.
