You are purchasing a Bixonic Expandora EXP-2000R effect pedal for guitar (or bass!)

The Expandora is a famous overdrive/distortion circuit produced by Bixonic as a sort of boutique pedal in the mid 90's. In the 2010's they commissioned Godlyke to reissue the pedal (which had gained a devoted cult following) with a few quality of life enhancements: the gain dip switches were moved to the outside of the pedal, a bass and guitar voicing switch was added, and a 9vdc jack was added. This pedal for sale is one of those examples.

Electronically, the Expandora is an interesting take on the opamp driven, silicon diode hard clipping overdrive/distortion: one opamp gain stage is cascaded into another (in this case the dual TL072) with an optocoupler before the second stage. This means the gain for the second stage is set by the incoming signal.

The result is a very "expressive" distortion. You usually hear buzz phrases like "touch-sensitivity" to describe this. Well it's true! Also fascinating is the gain toggle switches, which allow you to go from light overdrive to 'forbidden mode' insane fuzz.

Personally, despite the versatility of the pedal, the 'forbidden' mode is my favorite. With both stages screaming, you can get downright experimental levels of squealing uncontrolled fuzz. It's simply delightful.

This particular example is in excellent shape, with only minor scratches in the otherwise gleaming finish. It is functionally perfect and comes with the original box, manual, and warranty card.

I am selling this, and other pedals as part of an effort clear out all this great gear that I simply have no time to play with these days. Gear wants to be used! And I would like to sell some of this incredible stuff to people who will appreciate it!
