Vintage 1962 Gibson EB-0 Bass Guitar Husk Project w/ Original Softshell Case!

Up for sale is this vintage 1962 Gibson EB-0 electric bass guitar husk project. This instrument will require parts and work to be playable so please be sure to read the entire description and see all of the photos. It is offered "AS IS".

This is a prime example of "bad things happen to good instruments," in the sense that someone had a beautiful, great playing EB-0 and decided that it needed to be an EB-3. The bass was routed for a bridge pickup (branded Olson) and the control cavity was enlarged as well. It's a shame because it was otherwise a great playing bass with a huge, chunky neck.

Cosmetically, the instrument shows wear but the original cherry finish is bright and unfaded. There are some decent-sized dings and scuffs around the edges (the worst of which are pictured) and the treble side tip of the headstock (pictured) as well as numerous other small dings, scratches, and scuffs. The finish does show a decent amount of very attractive checking as well.

This listing includes:

- the wood.

- the Olson pickup (untested).

- the original pickguard (cut for two switches).

- four pots (one original, three cheap imports).

- three assorted non-original knobs.

The neck is straight and the truss rod functions as it should. The original frets show wear but should have a good amount of life left in them once strung back up.

The original brown softshell Gibson case is included and, while it's in rough condition (missing the handle, center pocket, and showing the typical heavy wear that these always show), it's cool to see an example of such a rare case survive throughout the years. The bass will be well-packed inside and out to ensure safe shipping.

This one is a great platform to either restore or to continue forward and properly finish up the EB-3 conversion. It has the potential to become something truly special...
