I ponder, as I always do. Sometimes, I ponder the origins of the many instruments I purchase. You know, kind of like that guy Josh Gates on Expedition Unknown. You know the byline, right? “Josh Gates braves raging rivers and the dangers of the Colombian jungle as he continues his hunt for the treasures of El Dorado.”

Does he find the treasure? Not hardly. But nonetheless, the show is informative and, dare I say, educational. Good family fun!

Flash forward to my own tremulous travels deep in the Lonestar State. Of course, my friends, I swam the Red River accompanied by my dog and a Cherokee named Ned—continuing my quest to bring you the finest instruments known to man. (That shit sounds dramatic, doesn’t it?)

On this expedition, I found evidence truly worthy of presentation to you—my bosses, of course.

This guitar hails from Texas, just as stated, and was originally purchased from Rockin Robin Guitars. Ring a bell? It should. After all, blues legend Lightnin' Hopkins and Billy Gibbons’ pre-ZZ Top garage outfit, The Moving Sidewalks, bought gear there too.

Now, about this guitar.

This is, without question, one of the cleanest examples you’ll find. Yes, it has a few dings and surface scratches on the back, but how old is this thing?

Features? Why not.

Honduras mahogany body, set-neck construction, rosewood fingerboard, original Super 80s humbucker's that sound like a pit bull running down a surprised victim, and the Gibraltar-style hardware? Built like industrial equipment.

Case? Original.
Setup? Who you talkin’ to, Willis? Of course.
Frets and truss rod? No worries.

Price? Yeah and the chance of making an appearance on—Ridiculous Reverb Listings? These new? 4K. Why not have an original?

Gonna take Christie Brinkley to dinner, are we? Well, you won’t be taking her for a cheap steak. Why? Quality, friend. That little intangible that’s remembered long after the price is forgotten.

Simply put, I’m offering you, in my humble opinion, one of the nicest examples. People, find out what the world already knows: I only do excellence. Is there really any other way?
