This Fender Champ was produced in 1962, one of the final production years of the original-era Fender Tweed amps. The Champion was first introduced in 1948, and went through a few changes over the years until 1955 when the "narrow panel" style was adopted. The Fender Champ then remained largely unchanged until the changeover to Tolex in the mid '60s. The Fender champs of this era were a studio go-to for guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Joe Walsh and many more. When you hear "Layla" you are hearing a Fender Champ from the Original Era, very similar to this one.
This amp is in remarkable shape for its age, and is a testament to Fenders craftsmanship. The two prong power cable has been swapped for a standard three prong, has been professionally re-capped and stays in a smoke free, temperature/humidity controlled space.
