This 1985 Washburn HM-5V "hot-rod" in the rare Bloodburst/Blood Splatter finish. Made in Japan during the peak of the 1980s shred era. Features the iconic angular HM body design and fast neck.

The Washburn HM-5V is a cult-classic mid-1980s “shred” guitar from Washburn’s HM (Heavy Metal) series. The model is especially known for its radical body shape, fast neck, Japanese build quality, and outrageous finishes like the rare Blood Burst/Blood Splatter graphics.

And that's where the standard configuration ends and the "hot rod" begins. This guitar has been upgraded and modified. First, the pickups have been upgraded to the Seymour Duncan (George Lynch) Screamin Demon (bridge), Hot Rails (neck) and I can't remember the specific middle pickup. Next the tremolo system has been upgraded to a Floyd Rose Original. Lastly, but most importantly the sticky painted neck finish has been removed and replaced with a natural wood oil finish making this an incredibly playable instrument. All original hardware comes with this guitar for those Originalists.

This is a highly collectible and playable guitar.
