Subway guitars in Berkeley California has been the bay area's premier Guitar chop shop since 1968. We have been faithfully serving up the coolest vintage gear to our friends and neighbors while also providing repairs and custom builds

Today, we are pleased to offer a rare and extremely desirable pre-cbs Fender amplifier in excellent condition and good working order.

This amp dates from Aug of 1964, making it one of the last 250 Bassman amps to employ the 6G6-B circuit.

The 6G6-B model Bassman is sought after for its ability to produce a "gritty" but clear singing tone. It is commonly used by artists seeking a thick, bluesy sound that holds together better than earlier tweed circuits, but is warmer than later blackface models.

The Fender 6G6-B circuit is a highly regarded 1963–1964 "blonde" or "white knob" Bassman 50-watt amplifier circuit. It is famous for using solid-state rectification, two 5881 power tubes, and a distinctive, thick-sounding "Bass" channel designed for both electric bass and guitar, often considered a bridge between tweed and blackface tones

1964 Fender 6G6-B Bassman

Preamp tubes: four 7025 (12AX7 types)

Output tubes: two 5881 (a more-rugged 6L6 type), fixed-bias

Rectifier: solidstate

Controls: Bass Instrument channel: Volume, Treble, Bass; Normal channel: Volume, Treble, Bass; shared: Presence

Output: 50 watts RMS

It also comes with the original and matching 2x12 cabinet. The cabinet is also in excellent condition it separate small repaired tear in the grill. When we opened it up, it was very clean as shown in the pictures. The speakers are the original Utah speakers and date from April, 1964.

The amp and cabinet are both all original with no modifications except for a conversion to a three-prong plug

Together, the head and cabinet present a very clean, and excellent sounding example of this classic fender amplifier. We will ship it safely using the best practices for a collector's item like this.
