1999 Modulus Genesis 5 (Michael Tobias collab.) – Custom for Bobby Sheehan (Blues Traveler) – Family Owned

This is a 1999 Modulus Genesis 5-string bass (serial #990142) that was custom built for my brother, Bobby Sheehan of Blues Traveler.

This instrument features a custom inlay of the Blues Traveler logo (cigar-smoking cat) on the fingerboard, making it a one-of-a-kind piece directly tied to the band’s identity. This was not a standard Modulus option and was commissioned as part of the build.

I am selling this instrument as a member of Bobby’s family, and it has remained in our possession. A signed letter of provenance will be included with the sale.

The Genesis series was a unique collaboration between Modulus and Michael Tobias, combining a graphite-reinforced neck with a traditional wood construction for a more organic tone while maintaining exceptional stability. Original Modulus case included.

This bass was built during the height of Blues Traveler’s success in the late 1990s.
