Up for sale, a 1960 Fender Jazzmaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original “knucklebuster” hardshell case. A slab board example from early in the second full year of production, this Jazzmaster is a true rarity with a *one-piece* ash body, featuring a body-only refinish and relic by Carson Hess in vintage spec translucent Blonde nitro lacquer.

Extremely well-balanced on a strap and acoustically lively at 8lbs 5oz, the ash body adds a distinctive tonal color to this Jazzmaster, with a sonic authority, midrange detail and overall breadth that translates faithfully through the original black bobbin pickup pair. The bridge pickup is focused-yet-full, with a rich upper midrange growl and classic treble sparkle. The neck pickup has plenty of muscle and breadth, with a bell-like cut, dense harmonics and even more warmth on tap with the Rhythm Circuit engaged. This Jazzmaster benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, with 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The gloss Blonde nitro lacquer refinish was executed by Carson Hess, pitch perfect in its hue and saturation, lightly aged with uniform yellowing and horizontal lacquer checking, highlighting the arching grain of the one-piece ash body. The neck profile retains its original lacquer on the profile length and headstock.

The original brown tolex “knucklebuster” hardshell case with gold interior is included. The case features the central latch directly beneath the handle, while the outer two latches are non-functional.
