Up for sale today is a 1964 Epiphone Al Caiola Custom Hollow Body Electric Guitar in very good condition with a Hard Case. This instrument comes in a Shaded Sunburst finish and weighs in at 6lbs 11oz. Listing ships as pictured. Pickup cavities have been routed for full size humbuckers, guitar is currently outfitted with Seymour Duncan Antiquities. Original pickups have been lost to time. Instrument does not have badge. Bridge is not original, a second random bridge is included. #174884 Some cosmetics to be expected on a 60+ year old instrument, see pics. “2” on back of headstock likely means this was a factory second, this indicates that at one point there may have been a minor cosmetic flaw when it was first sold. Imperfections on neck near first position seem to have been filled at some point in the past, almost 0 fretwear to speak of. Frets likely not original. No mechanical issues. Send any questions our way!
More from Reverb:
This Epiphone was the signature model for prolific session musician Al Caiola. The custom model used two mini-humbucker pickups and included Epiphone's "Tonexpresor" switches. Later, a Standard version was launched which used P-90 pickups instead.
