To those who have asked, this is not strip-board or a PCB, it's built point to point using only the component leads.
If there's a simpler, more effective way to get the "cranked tweed" sound I haven't found it, and I've played almost every circuit that claims to do it. Especially for those that love/hate the Tube Screamer, it's non-compressed and lacks that midrange bump around 1K. In a crowded realm, this one stands out. Inspired by the Red Snapper/HoocheeMama/Gainster lineage (this is a quasi-Gainster clone), this true-bypass handwired point-to-point circuit sounded so great I just kept building them. With massive headroom on a standard 9V pedal with level unity volume around 10PM, it has been reviewed by previous buyers as "very amp like" and a "Klon killer" (although it also stacks great with a Klon). Transparent overdrive (guitar still sounds like guitar) with a mid-highs push if you want it (Presence), and can range from a clean boost to considerable crunch. Top-quality components, an LF353 Op Amp, over-spec capacitors, and Alpha switch. Hand-built and finished, in a board-friendly 125B enclosure.
