Across Mick Ronson’s storied career, his work with David Bowie, Ian Hunter, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, John Cougar Mellencamp, Annette Peacock, and The Leather Nun, among others, cemented him as nothing short of an icon. Of course, Mick was not only renowned for his inventive guitar playing but also for his composing, arranging, recording, and live performance skills.

The Dunlop Mick Ronson Cry Baby Wah is a testament to the late legend’s tone-crafting tenacity, methodically constructed with the help of Ronson’s close friend, collaborator, and bona fide legendary producer in his own right, Bob Rock. This signature Cry Baby Wah near-identically captures the distinctive sonics that defined Mick’s trademark style of evocative resonance and sound shaping. Because Bob loaned Dunlop the actual Cry Baby Wah used by Mick, Dunlop’s engineers were granted an unencumbered gaze into what made Mick’s Wah so special.

This signature Cry Baby Wah re-creates the flourishes and nuances of Mick’s pedal, including a higher frequency response, a slightly more subdued peak, a tightened inductor tolerance, increased speed of potentiometer’s initial sweep, and period-accurate transistors and resistors. It all adds up to a distinctive EQ curve essential to Mick’s sound and one that reflects his decades of hit-making magic.
