Gibson L-7 archtop guitar made in Kalamazoo, MI in 1948. Serial number on white oval label under the f-hole on the bass side is A-2219.

This is an exceptionally fine instrument in beautiful shape. The natural finish has aged beautifully with delicate lateral checking on the solid Spruce top and less visible finish checking on the back and sides. The guitar is completely original including the tail piece, Brazilian Rosewood bridge and single ring Kluson Deluxe Tulip tuners.

The black stinger on the back of the headstock is worth the price of admission alone. It provides a striking contrast to the warm natural aged finish on the back of the neck.

The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard shows very little playwear as do the original frets which still have the little nubbins of the binding covering the fret ends. The back of the neck has a comfortable C shape with very little playwear. The maple back and sides show lots of figure with the back showing exceptional bubble figure in the arched back.

The guitar has two proud parallel solid braces running the length of the top and are not kerfed and tucked nicely into the linings. The center seam on the back was reglued and a 9" crack on the upper bout of the top from about 1/2" above the fingerboard was also glued. Because it follows the grain line, it is hardly noticeable

The guitar is loud and plays exceptionally well with the string height being 1/8" on both the treble and bass side at the 12th fret.

Included with the sale of the guitar is the original soft-shell Geib case in excellent condition with the original handle present and all latches and hinges working properly.

The string length is 25 1/4" and the nut width is 1 3/4".
