Aged to Vintage Top
A vintage instrument is the holy grail of acousticguitar tone. The wood on the top cures and opens up more over time. Thisunleashes a tonal quality that is missing in new instruments “ until now. Usinga special process we call ATV (Aged To Vintage), we treat the solid Sitkaspruce top to give it that big and open tone of a decades-old, highly-sought-after acoustic. This torrefaction process delivers that amazingtone to you right out of the box.
Solid Sitka Spruce & Solid Flamed MyrtlewoodCombination
Featuring superior strength and dense grains alongwith the flexibility to resonate freely, the premium grade solid Sitka sprucetop on the Gold Series is ideal for virtually any musical genre with abrilliant and clear high-end, warm and rich midrange, and a deep but tightlow-end for a beautifully balanced sound.
The back and sides are of Master Grade solidMyrtlewood for a bright yet smooth and warm sound. Clear and powerful, itemphasizes the high-mids for excellent articulation. Myrtlewood's figuring getsbetter and better with higher grades and this model features the highest gradepossible.
Triple Bevel Cut
The triple bevel cut was designed to give maximumcomfort to the players. Carefully calculated bevel cuts have been applied tothree strategic areas (armrest, cutaway, and rib rest) of the guitar body makingsure that the areas where the guitar touches the player's body are asergonomically shaped as possible. The cutaway bevel and body armrest bevelexisted previously on various Cort guitars, but the newly added waist bevel onthe back of the guitar greatly assures players the comfort that's never feltbefore. The bevels were meticulously laid out to not only provide comfort butto retain the acoustic properties of the body as the traditional cutawaycompromises the tone.
Auditorium Cutaway Body Type
With dimensions of 117mm(4 5/8") body depth,upper bout width at 292mm(11 1/2") and lower bout width at405mm(16"), the Auditorium body size is perfectly in between the largeDreadnought and the more intimate Grand Concert. This makes the Auditorium bodytype ideal for both strumming/Flatpicking and fingerstyle playing and suits the versatile acoustic player who prefers to have one guitar to cover a variety ofsounds and playing styles.
L.R. Baggs Anthem
The L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup/preamp systemdelivers the pure acoustic vibrations of the instrument to the amplifier and PAwithout any coloration. Unneeded feedback can also be easily and effectivelycontrolled through minimalistic controls that do not interfere with the look ofthe instrument.
Walnut Reinforced Neck
The neck on the Gold has been reinforced for addedrigidity and stability using two special inserts. This is constructed with twopieces of walnut installed to add stability while still retaining the naturalproperties of wood to further upgrade the Gold.
DoubleLock Neck Joint
The connection between a guitar's neck and body isanother key factor for great sound. On the Gold, we started with a tight-fitting traditional dovetail neck joint. We then reinforced it by adding abolt. This DoubleLock neck joint maximizes the transfer of tone and enhancesresonance on the Gold.
Hand-Rolled Fret Edge Treatment
The shaping and treatment of a guitar's frets havea big impact on comfort and performance. Most guitar makers simply bevel thefrets at each end to eliminate the sharp edges. Boutique acoustic builders,however, use a method to dress their frets to make them round, smooth, andultra-comfortable to touch and play. This process is highly complex andtime-consuming and requires the skilled workmanship of experienced craftsmen.On the Gold, the Cort offers this enhancement typically reserved for muchhigher priced instruments.
Neck Profile
UV finish is about 30% thinner than standardfinishes and this allows the wood to "breathe and vibrate more freely. Thisprocess requires a shorter drying time and reduces chemical interaction betweenthe finish and the woods, which is ideal for your instrument's longevity. Due tothe much shorter drying time and the lack of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)in the UV finish material, it is also an environmentally friendly process. Thishigh-tech finish is strong enough to be resistant to scratches but lightweightenough to improve the natural acoustic resonance of the body for a full, richtone.
