My mighty Take 5 is for sale today. I've had this for just over a year, always has a dust cover when not in use, and overall it's been very well looked after - mostly studio and home use, with a couple of gigs here and there. As you can see from the photos, not a scratch on it. It's running the most up-to-date firmware with the new ARP and noise features. Can provide more detailed pictures on request.
I've spent a lot of time with this instrument; it's exceptionally powerful and has that gorgeous Prophet 5-sounding filter that really sings, especially with a healthy amount of drive-compensated resonance. The immediacy and range of sweet spots always amazed me. This thing can sound monstrous or ethereal, ground-shaking or delicate, sometimes even over a single patch if you do some deep mod-wheel programming.
I've filled about half the preset spaces with custom patches that really show the range of sounds this synth can make (including obligatory Radiohead Prophet 5-inspired keys ofc); some later ones also go deep into its modulation capabilities. I can clear these with a factory reset for you, or you can have them as is, up to you!
The reason for selling is really just personal. I was blown away by the Take 5 when I first got it, but over time, I've found a bit of a joy imbalance compared to my other synths. For some reason, and maybe I'll regret this, the Take just isn't doing it for me any more. I'm a firm believer in playing and enjoying the tools of your trade, and with my Take 5 often taking a back seat these days, I feel now is the time for it to find a new playmate.
If you need any other info or photos, please feel free to ask. Comes in the original box with Sequential's friendly manual and kettle-cable PSU. Will ship recorded delivery.
P.S. I played my Take 5 with the band Glass Veins. You can hear this exact instrument in the choruses of our singles Slowdown and Shadows, if that's of any interest to you!
From Sequential:
The Take 5 has a warm tone that is full of character and substance. With its analog oscillators and filter, Take 5 brings that classic Prophet-5 sound into the modern age and makes it accessible to even more musicians around the world.
The analog oscillators are rich and full, forming the foundation of Take 5’s sound. And with the variable shape knob, the traditional wave shapes (sine, saw and pulse) can now transform dynamically, creating a variety of modern timbres.
Take 5’s smooth and creamy 4-pole resonant lowpass filter traces its 100% analog lineage directly back to the legendary Prophet-5. It’s perfect for punchy, round basses and can sculpt any sound with precision.
Take 5 delivers smooth, classic tones and adds modern features like versatile and varied modulations, along with great sounding digital effects. It’s the perfect fusion of timeless analog warmth and contemporary sound design.
