1978 Camel Chrome Covered Humbucker - 8.11K ohm - AlNiCo Magnet - Made in Japan MIJ

Used 1978 Camel brand Chrome covered humbucker, 8.11K ohm, AlNiCo magnet, Made in Japan MIJ.

This pickup came installed in the bridge position of a Japanese made 1978 Camel CLP-800.

Unlike Greco, Tokai, Burny, Aria, etc... brands from the 1970's, not much is known about the Camel brand of guitars - they were only around for a short period of time apparently made by Chushin Gakki for Kyowa Shokai company and were their high end tier brand which was complimented by the lower end tier of Fresher branded guitars (Which as also excellent).

The chrome cover was not connected when I received it, allowing me to remove it to see the bobbins and the magnet inside - it is powered by an AlNiCo magnet, and has double black bobbins. Interestingly, the slug pole pieces on this pickup are not flush with the bobbin, they are more like a Strat or Tele pickup, and each pole is at a different height.

Although I'm not sure who made the Camel branded pickups, this pickup look very similar to Yamaha pickups from the late 70's.

The DC resistance measures 8.11K ohm.

Pole spacing measures around 50mm.

The single conductor + ground lead wire is about 11".

The chrome cover and pole pieces are in good shape, with only minor areas of scratches, tarnish and corrosion.

Comes with the springs and screws pictured.
