For sale is an Epiphone Joe Bonamassa “Lazarus” 1959 Les Paul Standard, produced in 2021. This model was released as a tribute to one of Joe Bonamassa’s most famous guitars – the legendary “Lazarus” 1959 Les Paul, an instrument that became widely known after being restored and brought back to life by Bonamassa.

The Epiphone Lazarus was designed to capture the look, feel and tone of a late-50s Les Paul while remaining faithful to the story behind the original instrument. It quickly became one of the most sought-after Epiphone signature models due to its specification, limited availability and close connection to the original guitar.

Construction follows the classic Les Paul formula – mahogany body with a maple cap, set mahogany neck and traditional 24.75" scale. The top features a beautifully figured AAA flame maple veneer finished in Aged Gloss, giving the guitar the warm, vintage-inspired appearance associated with late-50s bursts.

Electronics are where this model really stands out. Unlike most Epiphone models, the Lazarus comes factory-equipped with Gibson BurstBucker pickups – BurstBucker 2 in the neck position and BurstBucker 3 in the bridge. These pickups are designed to replicate the sound of late-50s PAF humbuckers, delivering open mids, strong articulation and excellent dynamic response.

The guitar also features ’50s style wiring with CTS potentiometers and Mallory capacitors, providing smooth control response and a tone closer to vintage Gibson instruments.

The neck profile follows the classic ’59 Rounded Medium C, which is comfortable and substantial without feeling overly large – very much in line with traditional late-50s Les Paul neck shapes.

This example comes complete with the original Bonamassa-branded hard case, as well as the Certificate of Authenticity and case candy, making it a fully complete collector’s set.

Condition is excellent / near mint. The guitar shows virtually no signs of use and presents beautifully. Frets are in perfect condition, electronics work flawlessly and the instrument is ready to play.
