The Harmony H-165 is a vintage acoustic guitar built in Chicago during the 1960s, part of Harmony's extensive lineup of affordable American-made instruments. You get a dreadnought-sized body with a solid spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides—durable construction that has held up for decades. The neck is mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard featuring pearloid dot inlays. The headstock carries the classic Harmony logo in gold foil. It features a pinless bridge, which was common on Harmony guitars of this era, making string changes slightly different from standard acoustic bridges. The open-gear tuning machines are original.
Play it and you'll hear that distinctive Harmony voice—warm, balanced, and a bit boxy in the best possible way. The ladder bracing gives it a quick attack and a dry, bluesy character that's perfect for folk, fingerpicking, or slide work. These were department store guitars back in the day, sold by the millions to working-class players, but today they're valued for their genuine vintage vibe and that pre-war-inspired tone. It's not a Martin, but it's got its own thing going on.
