Here’s a true vintage Martin with a lot of history and a lot of character: a 1923 O-21 that’s been heavily worked on over the years, but still delivers the warm, open, and surprisingly lively tone you hope for from a 100-year-old 0-size Martin.
This one has been refinished, and sports a unique, somewhat pointy pickguard that gives it an unmistakable look. The bridge has been replaced, but it will need to be re-glued. There are multiple cracks—some repaired, some not. Inside, you’ll find a substantial amount of work as well, including various internal repairs and what appears to be some added bracing from previous caretakers. It’s definitely not a collector-grade piece, but it is a solid, well-playing vintage Martin with tons of vibe.
Despite its long repair history, the guitar actually performs impressively well. The action at the 12th fret measures .090" on the bass side and .070" on the treble, making it comfortable, responsive, and fully usable as a daily player. Tonally, it has that classic old-growth rosewood voice—sweet, articulate, and more powerful than you’d expect from an 0-size.
If you’re looking for a century-old Martin with authentic wear, a quirky past, and genuinely good sound—and you don’t mind a few needed repairs—this is a great, affordable way to get into a true vintage instrument that’s still a joy to play. Comes as-is with no case unless otherwise noted.
