Gibson LG-2 50s Original - Vintage Sunburst

The Gibson LG-2 50s Original is a "little giant" that punches far above its weight class, delivering a folk-style punch that has made it a staple for singer-songwriters and fingerstyle players alike. This small-body powerhouse features a solid Adirondack Red Spruce top, a legendary tonewood known for its incredible stiffness and "velocity of sound". Unlike other spruces that might break up at high volumes, this Adirondack top remains clear and well-defined no matter how hard you dig in, offering a ringing, complex tone that only gets better as it breaks in over the years.

Supporting that high-velocity top are solid Mahogany back and sides, creating a warm, focused midrange that balances the "chimey" highs of the spruce. The compact body size makes it incredibly comfortable for long sessions, while the hand-scalloped X-bracing ensures every note projects with clarity. Historically, small-body Gibsons like the LG-2 have been the go-to tools for legends like Woody Guthrie and Arlo Guthrie, prized for their ability to cut through a mix without the overwhelming bass of a dreadnought.

Whether you are recording in a tight studio or performing on a porch, the LG-2 50s Original provides a balanced, "woody" tonal palette. It’s equipped with an LR Baggs VTC pickup, ensuring that the natural, nuanced character of the Adirondack and Mahogany translates perfectly when you plug in. This is a guitar designed for those who value intimacy and articulation without sacrificing the classic Gibson growl.
