Beier - Steve Ferrone's, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, 7.5x15" 1.5 Millimeter Steel Model Snare Drum. Black Finish
There are bad asses, and there are BAD ASSES!! Steve Ferrone would be the later.
In the world of "first call” drummers, Steve Ferrone is the first one they call. Just ask Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, George Harrison, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Rick James, Slash, Chaka Khan, Bee Gees, Al Jarreau, Mick Jagger or Johnny Cash. When iconic bands like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Average White Band, Duran Duran and Aerosmith needed to replace their “irreplaceable” drummers, Steve Ferrone was the guy who stepped up.
Steve played a lot of drums throughout his career and he's saved almost every one of them. He has drums from Ludwig, Pearl, DW, Gretsch, Rogers and more. Some are custom made, some are rare prototypes, all are stellar drums. Nothing made it into his collection unless it was exceptional.
He’s thinning down his collection to just the drums he needs for his current gig with Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs, and his steady stream of session dates.
Steve’s collection is being offered for sale, hoping these drums find buyers who appreciate their history and continue making great music with them.
This Beier 7.5×15″ 1.5 mm Steel Snare Drum was part of Steve Ferrone's extensive arsenal of studio snare drums. Insider tip!! Steve uses 15" snares in the studio a lot. The "go-to" snare in his home studio is a 15". This Beier snare remains in excellent condition with no notable issues. Steve's muffling tape from the last time he played the drum is still on the head. He even left the original hang tag attached to the drum.
Beier snare drums are custom, hand-crafted metal snares built by James (Jim) Beier. Known for their signature 1.5 mm rolled, welded, and powder-coated steel shells, these drums are famous for delivering a fat, open, and punchy sound with high-end crack while taming harsh overtones.
Steve's collection, including this snare, was recently featured in the April, 2026 issue of Modern Drummer Magazine.
Includes a pair of Steve's stage played signature model drumsticks and a COA signed by Steve Ferrone.
