Gibson Custom Dealer Select 1959 Les Paul Standard Kindred Burst Murphy Lab light aged 7lbs 15.9oz
This guitar is as mint as it came from the store. This Gibson Custom Shop Dealer Select Les Paul 1959 Standard Murphy Lab light aged is a Sweetwater exclusive edition and this is where I purchased it from in Dec 2025. It is loaded with the Sweetwater Exclusive signature Sugarbucker pickups. Having owned an original 57, 58 and 60 Les Paul Standard I can tell you that this guitar has the sound and the mojo of any of my originals but has a better playing and feeling neck. Simply perfect in your hands. I plays like a dream. The pickups are amazing as is the built quality and the wood selection. Weight is only 7lbs 15.9 oz and the grain on the mahogany is very even and straight. The RW fingerboard is dark. I doubt that you ever will find any better sounding and feeling 59 RI Les Paul than this one for sure. Murphy Lab light aging means that there are some light checks on the top, body and neck for that authentic feeling and visual appearance. The hardware shows all the patina you would expect from an original instrument. The bridge pickup is not covered, but the aged nickel cover is provided. The video attached shows this particular instrument.
From Sweetwater’s Website:
This Gibson Custom Dealer Select 1959 Les Paul Standard is Sweetwater’s special spin on the Les Paul's legendary “'Burst” models. By and large, this guitar authentically adheres to vintage Les Paul specs with a stunning AAA flame maple top paired with a mahogany foundation — a tonewood combo that’s championed for its rich, singing sustain. The mahogany neck comes carved into a pleasing 1959 C profile, while the 12-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard brandishes beautiful binding and cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays. You’ll enjoy rock-solid stability and a decidedly vintage-tinged feel thanks to our Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard’s period-correct hardware package, which consists of an ABR-1 historic bridge, a stopbar tailpiece, and exquisite Kluson tuning machines. Plus, this 6-string’s Murphy Lab Light Aged finish authentically emulates the feel of a well-preserved vintage trophy. Best of all, our Sweetwater 1959 Les Paul Standard veers way off the vintage path with Sweetwater-exclusive Sugarbucker pickups, harnessing the power of Alnico IV magnets, an underwound design, and wax-potted construction to provide you with a sweeter spin on PAF sonics that you can only get at Sweetwater!

Sweetwater-exclusive Sugarbucker pickups
This Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard is equipped with a set of Sweetwater Exclusive Sugarbucker pickups. Designed in collaboration with Gibson’s resident pickup-winding wizard, Jared Brandon, Sugarbuckers forgo pure period-correct specs to offer modern players and vintage die-hards a sweeter spin on the classic PAF formula. Loaded with Alnico IV magnets and boasting wax-potted construction, these humbuckers combine legendary PAF clarity with modern, microphonic-free performance. They also feature a very slightly underwound construction, which accentuates the naturally lower-output voice of Alnico IV. It all comes together to form what we’re proud to call our perfect PAF-style humbucker — and you can only get them at Sweetwater!
Hair-raising vintage-style hardware
One of Gibson’s many accomplishments during the 1950s was the development of the ABR-1 — the famous Tune-o-matic bridge — which allows for precise intonation of each string. The patent for this design was granted to Gibson president Ted McCarty, a fact that has never been in dispute. However, it wasn’t until more recently that McCarty’s many innovations have been fully recognized. Since then, millions of guitars have been built with variations on this theme. This 1959 Les Paul Standard includes a non-wire ABR-1 bridge, further enhanced by a stopbar tailpiece and Kluson Deluxe tuning machines.
