DESCRIPTION

The Thneed from Supercool Pedals is a highly dynamic, light to mid gain overdrive inspired by a legendary transparent circuit but redesigned for improved reliability and flexibility. It functions equally well as a subtle tone enhancer, a cutting rhythm drive or a boost to push an amp into natural overdrive.

Its smooth, bright character helps guitars sit clearly in a band mix while retaining note definition and chord clarity. The pedal responds naturally to picking dynamics and guitar volume adjustments, making it expressive and intuitive in real-world use.

Gain adjusts op-amp drive and interacts with four selectable clipping diode pairs for varied textures. Treble is a shelving EQ above 1 kHz for adding presence or taming brightness. Level sets overall output and provides ample headroom for boosting. The Unless toggle increases bass content within the feedback loop, thickening tone and increasing saturation.

Internally, users can select low or high gain modes, choose between LED, 1N34A germanium, BAT46 Schottky or 1N4148 silicon clipping diodes, and set true or buffered bypass. A simplified analogue design without a charge pump helps reduce noise and improve long-term reliability.

Housed in a sturdy all-metal enclosure with distinctive Lorax-inspired artwork and bright pink knobs, The Thneed is practical, versatile and built for regular gigging.
