The Soldano SP-77 Series II is a rackmount valve preamp that bottled the fire of the SLO-100 into two channels of searing tone. With Clean and Overdrive modes, it moves from sparkling, articulate cleans to the tight, saturated distortion that put Soldano on the map. Beloved in the late 80s and 90s by players chasing that high-gain roar without lugging a full head, it became a studio staple for its punchy midrange and smooth sustain.
