The RSG-60 from the Burny Revival series is their 1963 SG Standard model - similar to the original Gibson SG Standard.

This version of the RSG-60 was released in 1988 and ran until 1992. There's no visible serial number, and the pots don't have any date codes on them, but this one should be from 1988 because it has the proper non split pineapple headstock inlay, and the covered VH-3 pickups installed (brass baseplate)- which were only found in 1988. This was the first time the '63 style SG was available in a standard (not custom ordered) white colour.

Burny had Fujigen and Dyna Gakki making their SG models during this time. They are very similar, but there are some differences - you can tell them apart by the control cavity route. This one is a Fujigen Gakki built SG custom (nearly identical to the Greco SS series of this era).

The finish on this guitar is called Cream White (CH) but it looks way more like the Snow White that Burny used later on - this one is almost pure and bright white - there is no significant fading or yellowing.

I've had a few different MIJ SG's from different brands (Greco, Tokai, Edwards, Burny, Bacchus, Aria, Epiphone, Orville, etc...), and I'd say the body carve on this one is up there with the best of them - it is done very well. The side of the body on the top side (bass side) is thin. The bevels and shaping on this guitar are closer to a modern Gibson custom shop, rather than a Gibson standard.

Also, the inlays on this model - and most of the Burny's from this era - in my opinion are the nicest and closest to vintage Gibson inlays in their shape and material. They have the celluloid look, and not the plastic pearloid look, with sharp points on the tops of the inlays.

This one arrived with 2 cracks in the body - one by the jack and the other by the switch. The cracks ran along the side of the body, along the back of the body, and into the cavities, but stopped before the top of the body. They have been glued and clamped and are stable now.

It also arrived with the paint along the neck binding raised/cracked. This was just the white paint where it met the binding, and not in the fretboard or neck wood - they are solid, and there was no movement when a significant amount of pressured was added to the headstock. The sides of the neck have been drop filled, sanded, buffed and polished smooth so that you cannot feel that transition anymore.

This one has a newer D string tuner installed (the original was broken), a new switch tip, newer pickguard and tenon cover screws, and a period correct nickel SG bridge and unbranded tailpiece - everything else on this guitar appears to be original, and this guitar is in good player grade condition. It's been played, and has some dings and chips in the finish - mainly across the lower and bottom sides of the body with only a few visible from the front of the guitar.

Like most vintage guitars, there are a many dings, dents, scratches, and chips all over this guitar, but since it's white, it hides most of the small scratches/swirling really well - and to me that just adds to the mojo. This is no Murphy lab - it's the real deal.

This Burny is made with a mahogany neck mated to a mahogany body. Although impossible to tell for sure under the white finish, it appears to be made with a 3 piece body, and 1 piece neck, with a beautiful dark brown rosewood fretboard with lovely swirling grain all the way up the entire fretboard.

The neck itself has a down the middle neck carve that it wide - starting at 21.4mm at the 1st fret and making it up to 23.4mm at the 12th fret - it's really comfortable to play.

The 22 medium jumbo frets have been played, and there is fret wear and fretboard wear across the fretboard, but mainly on plain strings, with the heavier play wear on the lower frets - but overall the guitar plays great up and down the entire neck, and there's lots of life left in these frets.

The Original nickel covered VH-3 pickups sound fantastic - they can cover almost any genre well. They can clean up when you roll off the volume, but can easily push your amp into break up. The VH-3's are one of the many great sounding PAF or modern PAF style pickups to come out of Japan in that era.

The plastics are all in tact, and in good shape too, with some typical pick marks on the pickguard & pickup rings, and typical swirling on all of the plastics. Both pickup rings have the gold VH-1 stickers still intact. The neck pickup ring was cracked in the middle along the top, but has been glued and is working as expected.

All the guitars I sell, I test, thoroughly clean, and setup completely before I list them. Anything that is missing, damaged, or non original is mentioned in the listing.

I setup all my Gibson style guitars to Gibson factory specs - including neck relief, action, pickup height, intonation, and tailpiece height. So this guitar will be ready to play out of the box (after you tune it up - I ship my guitars with the strings loosened).

Overall, this is classic SG that looks as good as it sounds, is built well, and plays great.

If you're looking to rock a white SG you'll want this Burny RSG-60 '63 in your collection today.

CONDITION ------------

Overall it's in good player grade shape.

I've tried to capture all of the flaws in the photos and in the description.

The D string tuner, switch tip, pickguard and tenon cover screws, neck volume pot, bridge, and tailpiece are not original.

Over the entire body of the guitar, top, back, sides, neck and headstock, there are some dings, dents, scratches, chips, and swirling, mostly around the lower and bottom sides of the body.

There's a few dents on the back of the neck.

The top of the headstock has multiple chip in the finish on the edge.

The black paint on the headstock has some minor swirling & scratches, and there is a ding in the headstock face close to the High E string.

The white finish is worn in areas along the side of the neck - but is smooth to the touch.

There were 2 cracks in the body by the output jack and by the switch that have been repaired and are stable.

All of the black plastics have typical scratches and swirling on them.

The neck pickup ring was cracked on the top, but has been glued back together and works as expected.

The letters on the selector switch plate (poker chip) are nearly worn off.

The original knobs have cracks on the tops, but all work as expected.

The nickel (and black) hardware, bridge, tailpiece, pickup covers and pole pieces, nickel tuners, and hardware all have some form of corrosion, pitting, scratches, and rust, although they all have a nice and consistent patina to them.

There are 2 small dents in the bridge pickup cover.

All of the unbranded Kluson style tuners are straight and work properly. The D string tuner is not original

Around the strap buttons there's some minor strap marks/swirling.

The frets have been played, and there is fret wear across the fretboard, mainly on the plain strings, with most of the fret wear on the lower frets and fretboard - the guitar plays well up and down the fretboard and there are lots of life left in the frets.

There's no signs of a headstock or heel repair.

The truss rod works as expected with room in both directions.
