A Gibson-made Mastertone Special from circa 1939. These lap steels were produced (by Gibson) between 1939 and 1941.

This 6-string lap steel is made from a solid piece of maple and is finished with a beautiful Crinkle Brown finish. A rather special finish that you don't often see. Several tuning peg heads appear to have been replaced, and the volume/tone knobs as well possibly. Functionally, the lap steel plays great and all electronics function without issues. Included is the original case and a slide as shown in the photos.

The fretboard is decorated with ornamental position markers and on the headstock we find the characteristic silkscreen Mastertone logo. Furthermore, this Mastertone Special is in a very neat condition.
