Great playing mandolin made just at the end of the "Lloyd Loar era" at Gibson. General wear present yet killer tone these rare "Snakeheads" are known for.

Arguably, in this era, Gibson produced what many consider the finest crafted and best-sounding round-hole A style mandolins ever made.

These "Snakehead" instruments are nicknamed for their Lloyd Loar-designed peghead that angles inward towards the tip, a logical design feature - yet abandoned by Gibson a couple of years after he left the company. Revered for their unmatched tone and projection and have other advanced features of the era including the adjustable truss rod neck, raised adjustable bridge and very slim neck profile.

Overall length is 25 3/4 in. (65.4 cm.), 10 in. (25.4 cm.) wide, and 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 14 in. (356 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/16 in. (27 mm.).

All-original finish shows wear of mostly small dings, nicks and scuffs (see images). The tailpiece and cover, bridge, and pickguard are original, original tuners have been replaced with period type units.

Original strap button missing (see image #17)
