DENON's PRA-2000 is a high-end control amplifier (preamplifier) released in 1979, and was the flagship model of its time. It was designed with a particular emphasis on analog record playback and was priced at 200,000 yen at the time of its release, placing it among the high-end models. The most distinctive feature of this model is that it employs a “real-time equalizer” method that suppresses time axis deviation and high frequency degradation, instead of the conventional NF type (negative feedback) method. This greatly improves the naturalness and dynamism of the sound quality, especially in record playback. The phono inputs are equipped with two MM (moving magnet) and one MC (moving coil) inputs, and the MC input has a dedicated head amplifier. The MC input has a dedicated head amplifier. This allows for the connection of multiple turntables and the use of different cartridges. In terms of sound quality, the amplifier has a high dynamic range with a maximum output of 47 V. This amplifier is in Good condition. It shows some natural signs of aging and use (please check photos), including some scratches, scuffs, and other marks.
