The DOD FX82 Bass Compressor is a vintage effects pedal introduced in 1987, designed to even out the dynamic range of bass guitars for enhanced sustain and punch. Based on the FX80B Compressor Sustainer circuit, it was meticulously reworked to better handle low-end frequencies. 

Key Specifications

• Versions: Two primary iterations exist. The early 1987 version features Level, Attack, and Compression knobs, while the version released later that same year replaced the Attack control with a Release knob.
• Circuitry: Uses a Dynacomp-style circuitoptimized for bass, providing smooth and punchy compression action.
• Compatibility: While tailored for bass, it is often used with acoustic or low-tuned guitars. It performs best with passive instruments, as active electronics can sometimes trigger increased background hiss.
• Build: Features the classic, rugged DOD metal housing and typically requires a standard 9V DC power supply.
