This Bozo Podunavac B-60 is in amazing condition, with a larger body than many standard dreadnoughts. It has a huge sound and resonance, a low and very comfortable buzz-free action, with great clarity and tonal definition. It is rich, sweet, and LOUD!

Bozo designed this model for the mid-range buyer in mind, teaming up with Japanese luthier S. Yairi, known for producing high-quality guitars in the 1960s-1980s. I bought it in 1977 in California, where Bozo was building incredibly beautiful and ornate hand-made guitars in San Diego. His most popular six-string body style was the Bell Western, which featured lots of mother of pearl, highest quality tonal woods, and fantastic playability. His 12 string guitars were played by many top tier artists like Leo Kottke, John Fahey, Bob Gibson and Janis Ian. This model was part of Bozo’s strategy of building better quality, affordable guitars using Japanese methods.

This guitar features a Bell Western body, the highest quality spruce top, rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay, a dead straight neck, a classic Bozo headstock that shows some mild varnish discoloration, nickel machines that work perfectly, and a round soundhole with herringbone rosette.

In the 1970’s, Yairi used laminated wood for the backs and sides of their instruments, which when crafted with expertise, provides increased stiffness and resilience to the body. This makes the instrument less susceptible to environmental issues such as humidity fluctuations, which can lead to warping or cracking. This one shows that very clearly, with absolutely no structural or cosmetic damage at all!

This is a one-owner instrument that is not only a classic piece of luthier expertise, but a guitar that sounds and plays like a dream. I played it through my 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, later moving on to a  variety of Taylors, Lowdens, and hand crafted Luthier built instruments. This Bozo has been my all-time favorite, and I hope someone will play it the way it should be treated; with ultimate respect and enjoyment!!

The guitar has the original hard case that shows it’s age, but it works well and offers good protection. This listing is priced to sell at this price, but make an offer and it will be considered.
