1963 Gretsch 6117 Double Anniversary

The Gretsch 6117 Double Anniversary (introduced 1958) is a vintage, 16-inch wide hollowbody electric guitar, typically featuring a sunburst finish, dual HiLo'Tron pickups, and a 24.6-inch scale length maple neck. Known for a jangly, bright tone, it features a master volume, individual pickup volumes, and a tone selector switch, often with a "Space Control" bridge. 

• Body: 16-inch wide hollow body (approx. 2.5 inches deep) with arched maple top, back, and sides.
• Neck: Maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, often featuring thumbnail inlays and a 24.6-inch scale length.
• Pickups: Dual HiLo'Tron pickups delivering a brighter, more chimey sound compared to Filter'Trons.
• Electronics: Master volume control, individual pickup volumes, and a 3-way pickup selector switch.
• Hardware: Often equipped with a Space Control bridge on a rosewood base and a Gretsch palm tremolo or trapeze tailpiece.
• Finish: Primarily found in Shaded Golden Sunburst. 

• Origins: Launched to celebrate Gretsch's 75th anniversary.
• Evolution: Early models (1958-1962) often lacked a headstock "Anniversary" plaque, which was added later. Binding and inlay details evolved, with bound fretboards and thumbnails becoming standard in 1963.
• Sound: Known for a versatile tone suitable for rockabilly, garage rock, and pop, offering a "woody" and "chimey" sound. 

This example is in very good condition, and is all-original with the exception of a newer bone nut. It's quite clean overall, showing only minor fret wear and some slight buckle rash on the rear. The binding on this one is also in great shape, showing just a bit of cracking at the neck joint. Pickguard crack appears to have been glued and is solid. Nut width is 1.72 inches, the truss rod is in good working order, and the neck is straight. Original neck set is solid if a bit shallow - action is 90/1000ths clear at the 12th fret.
