Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson Firebird™ rocks the reverse body and headstock design that appeared on the Firebird when it was originally introduced in 1963. Designed by famed automotive stylist Ray Dietrich, the Firebird marked Gibson’s first neck-through-body electric guitar design. The Firebird features a traditional 9-ply mahogany and walnut neck-through-body construction that delivers rich, warm tonality and incredible sustain. Thanks to the neck-through design, the tuners, pickups, bridge, and tailpiece are all mounted on the same continuous pieces of wood, resulting in exceptional resonance and tonal transfer. The neck sports a fast-playing SlimTaper™ C profile and is fitted with a bound rosewood fretboard featuring 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid trapezoid position marker inlays for effortless playability and classic style. The newly refreshed Firebird is outfitted with a set of ProBucker™ FB720 Firebird pickups with Alnico 2 magnets, built to original 1960s Gibson Firebird specifications and wired to high-quality CTS® potentiometers. These pickups deliver the bright, articulate, hum-free tones and distinctive voice for which the Firebird is known. While similar in size to mini humbuckers, Firebird pickups use a completely different construction, omitting pole pieces and instead utilizing dual blade magnets positioned within the coils, along with a steel reflector plate, creating a sound unlike any other humbucking pickup design. Premium hardware includes an Epi
