The Vintage Reserve at Pristine Auctions is proud to present this awesome 1967 Gibson ES-355 TDSV Stereo in Cherry Serial Number 892341 . This is a super clean example from the 60's and is probably one of the cleanest instruments we have ever encountered from this long ago. This instrument is without a doubt one of the best sounding and playing vintage guitars we have ever had in the shop. It is now 58 years old and is as clean as some of the reissues we have had. The sound this one makes is simply beyond words. The tone is incredible .. The original Patent Number Sticker Pickups sound absolutely amazing. This guitar also has a very cool set of Factory Original Gold Grover Patent Tuners, very rare and valuable.
We are calling this instrument Excellent Condition. This comes to Pristine Auctions as a one owner instrument purchased at Galluci Music in Scranton PA in 1967. The body itself is unbelievably clean with a little bit of finish checking, a hint of buckle wear on the back, and a few very small marks. That's it.. as this as clean as one could get for 58 years old. This instrument is absolutely stunning in every way. It is a time capsule, and Museum Grade. This guitar was basically a case queen for the past 35 years. This is both a good and a bad thing. From sitting in the case the celluloid pick guard did some damage to the original wiring and the original pick guard has basically partially disintegrated as well. This guitar was very recently fitted with a Brand New Wiring Harness and Custom Made Pick Guard courtesy of another local shop, Northeast Music Center. The wiring harness is custom, with just the two volumes, and the Varitone switch now functioning as a master tone control. This wiring version is often preferred, as many buyers of the 345 and 355 prefer the guitar to work in non stereo/non varitone. You no longer need a special stereo cable to operate both pickups in this guitar. Now it works essentially like a 335 with a master tone control. All original parts are included with the sale, but at this point is is assumed that the original parts are no longer any good from literally siting in the case for over 3 decades. Every thing else is all original !
This beautiful guitar was just professionally set up with LaBella 10-46 Gauge Electric Strings and plays effortlessly up and down the neck. The frets clearly show that this instrument was barely played and kept in the case. The fret nibs are still in tact. The neck is perfect as is the truss rod. She will ship professionally packed and fully insured. It comes in its original Factory Issued Hard Shell Case which is in cosmetically worn but it is fine structurally.
