I bought this from an audiophile just a few months ago to digitize some old tapes I have. The machine is in excellent condition and works great for playback. Recording has *not* been tested, since I don't have any blank tapes to test it on, but given the physical condition of the unit it probably works.
The unit is in extremely good condition for its age. I don't know the actual age of the machine, but it was first sold in 1966 according to advertisements. This is an antique, but it works fine for playback.

You can view the owner's manual if you search for "Retro Audio Museum - TEAC R-1000" online.
