This is a Highway One Strat from 2003, in a natural finish, with a rosewood fretboard.
For those that don't know, the Highway One series were very high-end US made Strats with a thin, satin nitrocellulose finish, without a thick clear coat, designed to wear easily (relic) and let the wood resonate, giving them a unique look and warm tone and this guitar has just that, a loud resonance and warm tone.
These models are kind of a cult classic due to this finish.
It has a huge sound for a Strat and sounds awesome. It has some of the most intricate grain patterns for the natural finished on the highway one series that I have seen yet!
This guitar plays great. I just got it set up from Pistol Pete's guitar technician (look him up if you haven't heard of him). The fretboard has just been oil (as the time this post is published).
Extras:
- Rio Grande Muy Grande pickup set. These pickups have 1/4in magnets (quarterpounders). They are very beefy and bold. They have a much louder output compared to standard Strat pickups. The middle pickup is reverse wound so positions 2 and 4 are hum free.
($300 value)
- Fender TSA hardshell flight carrying case. This case comes with the keys and has plenty of storage in the middle section. It is the exact case for a Strat/tele so it fits like a glove. This is a huge upgrade compared to the stock gig bag that came with these guitars from the factory.
($250 value)
- Neck replacement. Over the years, as the neck dried, it twisted into an 'S' curve making it almost impossible for a good set up and easy playing. I decided to find a new neck (with the exact specs as the original) and settled on a 2019 American standard neck. The frets have tons of life left in them (see photos)
($500 value)
- Matching aged white plastics
($50 value)
- Brand new Hendrix strap
($40 value)
Do to all of the upgrades, I have to ask more than what typical prices are for a highway on but you will find I priced it accordingly (which is why I broke down the dollar amount for each upgrade).
This sunflower on the neck plate is just a sticker and can be removed if you do not like it.
The black thing around the headstock is just cloth with a flower pattern on it and can obviously be removed. I chose to make these addiction because I named the guitar Honey due it's warm sound and color.
Comes with vibrato arm shown in photos.
Being that this guitar is 23years old, it does have some relicing (shown in photos). The neck has a slight amount of wear from rings due to previous owner but it never bothered me.
The only thing I could recommend to make this amazing guitar any better is a saddle replacement.
They are a bit worn and I didn't feel like replacing them since I am selling it.
