Zildjian 20" A Custom Crash - 2006 (JF Era) - 2080g - Sweet Spot Weight
Dramatically downsizing to help fund farm operations. Listing more than 40 pieces in the coming days. Please check my other listings.
I recently acquired a complete set of vintage Zildjians that I have been hunting for years. As much as I love my modern setup, I can't keep everything. I am releasing a few of my professional Zildjians (A Customs and K Hybrids) to recoup funds and get these great cymbals into the hands of someone who will actually play them.
This is a 20-year-old A Custom (Serial JF = 2006), meaning it has had two decades to break in and mellow out. Weighing in at 2080 grams, this cymbal sits in a unique sonic space. It is slightly heavier than a typical thin crash, which gives it massive volume and a longer sustain, but it lacks the clunky "gong-like" quality of a heavy Rock crash.
- As a Crash: It is a "wall of sound." Bright, shimmering, and explosive.
- As a Ride: Because of that extra weight, you can actually ride on it for a wash of white noise without losing stick definition.
Specs:
- Series: A Custom.
- Year: 2006 (JF Laser Stamp).
- Size: 20 Inch.
- Type: Crash (doubles well as a light Ride).
- Weight: 2080g.
- Finish: Brilliant.
I have listed this as "Very Good." Being a 20-year-old cymbal, the logos have started to fade and thin (see photos), and there are standard stick marks and fingerprints. However, structurally it is excellent—no cracks, no keyholing, and clean edges. I have intentionally left the surface unpolished to preserve the patina and character as I know everyone has their own thoughts on this. I have owned it for half its life and I never played it out... very light home use only!
Let me know if you have any questions. As I mentioned above doing serious liquidation to help support the horse sanctuary so will be listing a lot in the upcoming days.
re: RETURNS
I have noticed in recent years here and on other sites there seems to be an increase of buyers that purchase an item, practically invent some sort of problem or issue, and then hold the seller's feedback ransom to get a few bucks back for free. That is why I am making it perfectly clear in my listings that I do not accept returns. Please ask all questions up front (additional condition details, request more pictures, etc.). However, if you check my feedback both here and on a popular auction site ( jmarsh45 ) you will see that I have a perfect 100% feedback rating of over 1,500 across both platforms over the past 25+ years (yes…since the late 1990s). I take my feedback and my gear very seriously even though I am a hobbyist. So please know that if there is a genuine problem, I am sure we can work something out. Just reach out before or after with any questions or issues.
