I purchased this microphone brand new from Sweetwater because I was planning on doing more field recording. If you know the reputation of the MKH 416, you know it is legendary for ignoring everything in the room except exactly what you point it at. It works exactly as advertised—it sounds incredible and the off-axis rejection is world-class. However, for the level of video and podcast work I am currently doing, this is simply "too much gun." I am not running a commercial studio, and I cannot justify keeping a $1,000 microphone for hobbyist tasks when my standard condensers do the job fine. This is a great chance to save vs. buying new!

I have noticed in recent years here and on other sites there seems to be an increase of buyers that purchase an item, practically invent some sort of problem or issue, and then hold the seller's feedback ransom to get a few bucks back for free.  That is why I am making it perfectly clear in my listings that I do not accept returns. Please ask all questions up front (additional condition details, request more pictures, etc.). However, if you check my feedback both here and on a popular auction site ( jmarsh45 ) you will see that I have a perfect 100% feedback rating of over 1,500 across both platforms over the past 25+ years (yes…since the late 1990s).  I take my feedback and my gear very seriously even though I am a hobbyist.
