This is an Ovation Viper from the late 70s. From what I understand, these were made from 1978-1983, and the 5 digit serial code would put this before 1980.
Everything is original on this, and it includes the original hardshell case as well.
The color is a greyburst or silverburst - I'm not entirely clear what the official name of it is. Pickups are the original single coils that, according to Ovation, "produces less line noise and more highs that conventional single coils" and "is 6db hotter than other single coils".
I've owned this guitar since 2009 and have had a blast with it. It has a great jangly clean sound and plays wonderfully. Frets still look ok to me. The guitar has some general wear from playing. I've tried to include the major marks in the pictures. Notably, there are two chips on the headstock down to the wood, some knicks on the back of the neck, and a bit of rash on the butt of the guitar. Overall this is in very good shape considering the age.
