Heritage & Background
As a standout protégé of Andrea Tacchi, Jialan Chen has deeply mastered the essence of the Florentine school of guitar making. This instrument is not only a tribute to Tacchi’s pinnacle "Coclea" design but also a profound homage to Robert Bouchet’s aesthetics.
Tonal Characteristics
The guitar possesses highly "singing" melodic lines, with a treble range that carries a silk-like luster. Thanks to its unique internal bracing pattern, the attack is round and full. It moves away from the "scattered" sound sometimes found in traditional Cedar tops, instead offering exceptional focus, cohesion, and projection.
Craftsmanship Highlights
The Double Back and Sides design provides an extremely stable acoustic reflective base, maximizing the vibration efficiency of the soundboard.
Final Thoughts
Like the other works by Jialan, this guitar is extremely open and powerful even as brand new. This guitar presents exceptional singing qualities, and the height of his craftsmanship. Possibly his best work yet.
