The Fender® American Vintage II series presents a remarkably accurate take on the revolutionary designs that altered the course of musical history. Built with period-accurate bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and meticulously voiced, year-specific pickups, each instrument captures the essence of authentic Fender craftsmanship and tone. By 1973, now-classic CBS design cues had become standard spec and were widely used by rock, funk, fusion and prog players around the world. Weekly late night music television shows like Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, In concert and Midnight Special provided more exposure than ever for Fender instruments, further cementing the Stratocaster's dominance as a pop culture phenomenon.
The instruments in the American Vintage II series are direct descendants of the original Fenders: designed for players with a fine appreciation for vintage Fender tone and feel and built with unmatched quality, down to the last screw. These are Fender electrics in their purest form: Fender American Vintage II, the stuff of legends.
However....
This one is a unique build that Fender did as a Limited Edition version of the 1973 Stratocaster. It has the vintage vibe but a modern approach to playability and functionality. First off, it has a 9.5" radius and Medium Jumbo frets, making it way easier to bend, especially as you get into the higher register. Don't fret about fretting out. Additionally, there are special electronics in this guitar - Fender's S-1 switch adds the neck pickup Into positions 1 and 2. More tonal options are always a good thing.
Other than that, this is a straight up old school 70's Strat - you get the large headstock with the bullet truss rod, 3-bolt construction, and a trio Pure Vintage '73 Single-Coil Strat pickups. The ash body is resonant and the maple neck is super comfortable to play. The hardware is vintage styled with the old school bridge and tuners.
A deluxe hardshell case is included.
