Here for sale we have a Fender Precision Bass Special 'Cowpoke' Electric Bass in Trans Sunburst finish. Made in Mexico in 1995, this bass consists of an Ash body, a Maple neck, and a 20-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include Fender vintage-style open-gear tuners, a top-loading 4-saddle bridge, and a set of Fender single coils in a PJ configuration. These pickups are wired to stacked controls for volume, pickup blend, and a 2-band EQ. 

The Maple neck plays very comfortably, with Fenders ‘C’ profile filling the hand in an assuring fashion while still allowing for comfortable reach in all registers and promoting ergonomic thumb positioning. The double cutaway body design offers extended access into the upper register. This works well with the Gloss finish to the rear of the neck, allowing for smooth navigation of the 34” scale. The 9.5” radius makes for a great feel under the fingers, and provides the versatility required for a wide range of styles and techniques

This bass is equipped with a pair of Fender Single-Coils in a PJ configuration. This is a versatile combination which delivers a deep and powerful tone; the best bits of Fender's most iconic bass guitars.  They provide plenty of depth, warmth and a rounded low end that works very well with the clear, precise mids and glistening trebles. There is plenty of grunt on offer, with a fast attack that will keep your playing front and centre.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the headstock display light to mild indentations, scratching and chipping of the lacquer finish, the most apparent indentations can be seen to the treble side edge and near the low E tuning machine, these have discolored the natural finish. The most apparent chipping of the finish can be seen to the top edges where the wood beneath has been exposed. All aspects of the headstock display discoloration of the finish common with an instrument of this age.

Neck: Overall very good condition. Light to moderate indentations are present throughout the rear of the neck, the most apparent of these can be seen and felt to the early register and also display discoloration where the wood has been exposed. In conjunction to this, the Satin finish to the rear of the neck has been polished to a gloss texture from regular past use.

Body: Overall good condition. Light cracking of the finish can be seen to both sides of the neck pocket, these have been tested and present no structural concerns. All aspects of the body display light to moderate scratching, the most apparent of these can be seen to the rear face where the scratching is visible with the naked eye but does not expose the wood beneath, this is consistent with past use.

Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate mild signs of use, not affecting playability. Light denting and flattening of the frets is apparent throughout the register.  There is moderate material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.

Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (3/16" hex) not included.

Hardware: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the metal hardware display light to mild tarnishing and oxidation of the finish. Light to moderate scratching is present to the pick guard, these can be seen under direct light and is consistent with regular past use.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-2mm - Bass 2.25mm
