Guitar located in Ontario, CA - near LA
---------
solid cedar top
original tuners
restoration included-
two non consecutive cracks in the top, one center (bridge to tail), one off center (bridge to sound hole),
several tight cracks in the back,
small fracture at the tail, more superficial than structural.
The bridge is interesting...the tie block holes are drilled extremely high making the angle very low. The action is marginal 3.5 + If the holes could be re-done, plenty of room to lower the action. Finish in a very good shape, fretboard good. Interesting nut too, the saddle seems stuck in (lacquer?)Everything is repairable, the sound is pretty strong.
the crack is about 0.5 mm wide...too narrow for a spline. I will try to remove the old glue. it'll be solid, and I try the best I can to make it look OK.The old tuners, in my opinion look better, they are fully functional. I will clean the headstock slots and the holes, I usually seal them and then put little clear wax there, so the barrels turn freely. The fretboard is unusually rough, like they never sanded it smooth....nothing I can really do with the frets on.
1. Two pinholes by the rosette
2. The toners appear replaced, and the original headstock holes altered, the barrels look too tight
3. Saddle' top rough, unpolished
4. Frets cruddy and unpolished
5. Tiny damage at the end of headstock
Will work on it. The cracks in the soundboard: the one between bridge and sound hole in the top itself, the one between bridge and tail is actually cracked through the center fan strut.. It unfortunately eliminates cleats.
1. Tail small crack repaired
2. First crack (bridge to tail) glued...will try to make it less visible
3. Second crack (bridge to sound hole) will be cleated
5. High action....the only remedy is to plug the holes in tie block and re-drill them, lower the saddle
6. Clean the fretboard and polish the frets.
