Early 1960s Vox AC-30/6 B Copper Panel – Player Grade
A classic JMI-built AC-30/6 B chassis from the golden era of Vox. This one has been re-housed in a head cabinet and re-covered in black tolex, making it a practical “player grade” example while retaining the tone and character that define the best early AC-30s. Fully serviced, with its original output transformer, mains transformer and choke all present.
The chassis carries serial number 04944, stamped internally.
In terms of tone, this era of AC-30 is known for its rich chime, fast response and beautiful upper-mid complexity. The EF86-inspired front-end character is still evident in the feel: touch-sensitive, harmonically busy and wonderfully dynamic. Clean tones bloom with that unmistakable Vox sparkle, and when pushed, it breaks up into a thick, vocal overdrive that remains articulate even at higher volumes. A superb match for single-coils and humbuckers alike.
The circuit has been sympathetically maintained, with new capacitors and essential components replaced only where required to ensure reliability and safe operation while keeping the original JMI transformers working exactly as they should.
A fantastic opportunity for the serious player seeking genuine early 1960s AC-30 tone in a practical stage-ready format.
