Slingerland - 5x14" No. 140 Student Model, 10-Lug Aluminum Snare Drum with Rapid Strainer 1970s- Ribbed Aluminum (JL Sling #65)
The 1970s Slingerland No. 140 Student Model 5x14" 10-lug ribbed aluminum snare was Slingerland’s classic take on the lightweight alloy “student” drum that turned out to be anything but entry-level. Built in Niles, Illinois, it uses a ribbed aluminum shell paired with 10 lugs and the Rapid strainer, which give it a drier, more controlled voice and wider tuning range than the 8-lug versions.
Super cool "Slingerland" engraved hoops top and bottom!
The internal muffler has been removed, and a hole was started near the butt-plate, but it doesn't go all the way through the shell. We cleaned it up and put fresh heads and snare strings on, it plays great!
