This is a Fender Japan Jazzmaster “JM66-70 BLK,” featuring the highly regarded E-Serial.
With a serial beginning with E8******, it is believed to have been made in 1988.
Of course, it was built at the popular and respected Fujigen factory.

E-Serial Jaguars and Jazzmasters are extremely scarce—much like JV-Serial models—and are rarely seen on the market even here in Japan.
If you’ve been looking for one, I highly recommend acting quickly!

Modifications:

• The pickguard may have been replaced with a tortoiseshell one, as I believe the original was white.
• A mini-switch has been added; when the toggle switch is set to the center position and the mini-switch is turned on, it produces a phase sound.
• The pots appear to have been replaced, but the pickups are original.
• The bridge has been upgraded to a Mustang bridge to prevent string slippage (with brand-new saddles installed).

Specifications:
According to the 1986 catalog, the body wood is listed as either Alder or Basswood (with the possibility of Sen as well).
Based on the weight (approximately 3.9 kg), it is most likely Alder or Sen, but please check the neck pocket photo for confirmation.

Fingerboard: Rosewood

Condition:
As this guitar is 37 years old, it shows a fair amount of wear and various scratches.
Some of the more noticeable dings have been lightly touched up.
There is some fret wear, but there are no issues such as buzzing in the current setup.
Although it has many cosmetic flaws, I personally feel it is a great instrument that has been well played over the years.
The guitar has been fully cleaned and given a basic setup.
